Running Out

Your sons only sing your praises once you’ve left

They’re never going to need you again

Your daughters hold you high up

Raising you like a king above their scars

The clock is ticking faster then before.

When you come home

remember to bring the mail

the dog is clinging at your coattails

Your diving into the ice

but your heart has already frozen over

careful, her smile will thaw you out.

See you in another day,

SA
